Mobile Legends Patch 1.8.54 Update: New hero Chip, Hero and Battlefield Adjustments and more
With the break of the new year in Mobile Legends, developers at MOONTON Games have once again brought out a new tank hero, in the form of Chip. This hero comes in the Advanced Server a month after the release of Cici in the Original Server. The new tank hero, who resembles the figure of a fox, is a support character who can create multiple portals. Also, the developers at MOONTON Games have devised some additional hero balance and system adjustments. Let us break down more about the Mobile Legends (MLBB) Patch 1.8.54 Update.
New Hero: Chip
Portal creations are his main specialty as he and his allies can easily move through them, thus creating a new kind of mobility. With this new portal creation ability that Chip has, he sure seems to be a worthy support/tank hero capable of changing the tides of the battle. Let us check out these abilities in detail.
Abilities
Passive: Snack Time
Chip starts eating potato chips when out of combat, regenerating HP equal to 150 plus 15% after finishing a whole bag (requires 5 bites). After eating a bag of chips, Chip cannot eat again for 5s.
Skill 1: Crash Course
CD: 5.5s (CC, AOE Skill)
Chip runs his hovercraft into the ground, dealing Magic Damage equal to 220/250/280/310/340/370 plus 5% of the target’s Max HP and applying Chip’s Mark on enemy targets hit. Chip gains a 300/400/500/600/700/800 (+60% Total Magic Power) Shield upon hitting an enemy hero, which increases by 20% for each additional enemy hero hit.
Chip’s next Basic Attack will become ranged and also hit all nearby enemies with Chip’s Mark, detonating the mark to deal 200/230/260/290/320/350 (+40% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and stun each target for 0.6s.
Skill 2: Overtime
CD: 15s (Speed-up)
Chip rushes forward for 2s, gaining speed until he reaches 65% extra movement speed, after which he manifests the max speed for 2s. Chip’s next Basic Attack will cause him to charge at the enemy, dealing 200/220/240/260/280/300 (+30% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and knocking them back slightly.
Skill 3: Shortcut
CD: 60s (Teleport, CC)
Chip drops the Main Portal on an enemy hero, dealing 200/250/300 (+60% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and slowing them down by 30% for 2.5s. Meanwhile, he creates Connecting Portals near allied heroes (excluding allies within 8 units of Chip) and behind the allied Base. The Main Portal and Connecting Portals last up to 10s.
- Connecting Portals: Heroes can teleport from Connecting Portals to the Main Portal, or stand on the Main Portal for some time to return to the Connecting Portals they came from.
- Main Portal: Deals 600/750/900 (+180% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage to nearby enemy targets after a delay and knocks them airborne for 0.8s. The Main Portal inherits 80% of Chip’s HP.
Skill 4: Why Walk
Chip has 4 Beacons on the map, where can stand on a Beacon to enable this skill and then use it to teleport to any other Beacon.
Mobile Legends Patch 1.8.54 Update: Hero Adjustments
Paquito (Buffed)
Paquito has been a popular pick and does very well in professional competition. However, his performance has been lacking in regular Ranked matches.
By changing the width of Paquito’s Skill 2 and Ultimate to be identical to his Skill 1, devs hope that players will now land their skills more consistently with a better hit rate.
Skill 2 (↑)
Greatly increased skill width to be identical to Skill 1.
Ultimate (↑)
Slightly increased skill width to be identical to Skill 1.
lxia (Buffed)
Devs hope to keep Ixia’s overall damage intact while improving her mobility.
Skill 1 (↑)
- Cooldown: 8-4s >> 4s at all levels
- Base Damage: 175-300 >> 100-300
Edith (Buffed)
Edith can now deal more damage.
Passive (↑)
Bonus Damage: 3-6% (based on level) Magic Damage Based on Max HP >> 4-8% (based on level) Magic Damage Based on Max HP
Minsitthar (Buffed)
Minsitthar is now more powerful in the Exp Lane.
Skill 1 (↑)
- First Damage: 175-300 + 180% Extra Physical Attack >> 175-300 + 200% Extra Physical Attack
- Second Damage: 175-300 + 180% Extra Physical Attack >> 175-300 + 200% Extra Physical Attack
Skill 2 (↑)
Damage: 300-500 + 160% Extra Physical Attack >> 300-500 + 180% Extra Physical Attack
Hayabusa (Nerfed)
Devs didn’t expect Hayabusa to deal so much damage, and as long as he has Equipment Advantage, he can defeat some enemy heroes instantly without stacking his passive.
Ultimate (↓)
Damage: 130-150 + 100% Extra Physical Attack >> 100-140 + 70% Extra Physical Attack
Karrie (Nerfed)
Devs noticed that Karrie was dealing a lot of damage even in a defensive build. A tanky, high-damage Marksman limits the opponent’s ability to counter. So, the devs have lowered the base damage on her passive, so she now has to have a more offensive build to get the same damage output.
Passive (↓)
6%-8% of the target’s Max HP >> 6% (+1% of Extra Physical Attack) of the target’s Max HP
Jawhead (Adjusted)
Developers think our adjustments to Jawhead did not have the desired effect. So they are reverting some of the adjustments, and keeping the adjustment to his ultimate knockback.
Mobile Legends Patch 1.8.54 Update: Battlefield and System Adjustments
Battlefield Adjustments
Scavenger crabs have very few drops, which are troublesome to gather. Devs have made the following adjustments to improve this situation.
Scavenger Crabs
- The total value of Scavenger Crabs drops now increases over time.
- Reduced the number of Scavenger Crabs drops from 3 to 2. The value of each drop increases, but the total value remains the same.
- After the Lord is spawned, Scavenger Crabs will no longer respawn.
Equipment Adjustments
Glowing Wand (↓)
Lower the price. With the changes to [Radiant Armor], the final Magic Damage increase effect has been removed to prevent heroes with multi-hit Magic Damage from dealing excessive damage.
Unique Passive – Scorch (↓)
- Effect removed: Final Magic Damage increase.
- Price: 2200 >> 1950
Others
- Adjusted some heroes’ lane assignments and Battle Setups so that the default Battle Setup is now lane-appropriate.
- Changed in-match potion recommendation conditions. Potions will now only be recommended if the player has more gold than most of their finished equipment. Reduced the chance of accidental selection.
- Certain control effects under 0.2 seconds will no longer display a disabled skill icon. Skills used during a control effect will be recorded and automatically used when the control effect ends.
- Adjusted the recommended builds for Aurora.
