Why this VPN is the best choice for every user

I’ve tried several VPNs, each with unique pros and cons, but ExpressVPN stands head and shoulders above the rest. From speed to user-friendliness, here are all the reasons why I suggest using this VPN over all of its competitors.

1 You can connect up to 8 devices simultaneously

I use ExpressVPN on my smartphone, tablet and computer. Disconnecting from one every time I want to use another one is exhausting, so I’m grateful that ExpressVPN lets you connect up to eight devices simultaneously.

After using ExpressVPN on different operating systems, I found a consistent user experience. Its apps are well laid out and easy to use, and I haven’t noticed significant speed changes when I have multiple devices connected. While I only use ExpressVPN for myself, you can easily use it with your whole family.

2 Its servers are consistently fast

The extra layer of processing associated with a VPN can slow down your internet connection, so I always consider speed when looking for different providers. While it’s by no means perfect, ExpressVPN’s servers are normally pretty (and consistently) fast.

I’ve tested ExpressVPN with servers all over the world, including the UK, Japan, Germany and the US. Regardless, it has always performed relatively well – even when streaming content and watching videos. For this reason, ExpressVPN is one of the best Netflix VPNs.

Although there are other fast VPN services out there, ExpressVPN combines speed with other features that I like to use.

3 Good value for money

I pay $12.95/month for ExpressVPN with a floating monthly subscription; I could save money by getting one of the longer term plans, but I like the flexibility. With a six-month plan, I would pay $9.99/month; annual plans start at $8.32/month.

ExpressVPN’s price is comparable to NordVPN’s cheapest subscription on a monthly plan, and it’s cheaper than Surfshark VPN, which starts at $15.45 per month. NordVPN’s other two monthly subscriptions are more expensive than ExpressVPN.

While ExpressVPN is still one of the more expensive options, I think you get good value for money.

4 You can easily get your money back within 30 days

My current job with ExpressVPN is actually my second. I previously took advantage of the 30-day risk-free period to try it out and compare my subscription to other services. I’ve talked before about how difficult cancellation is one of VPN’s many sneaky sales tactics, but my experience with ExpressVPN has been far from difficult.

I had to contact the ExpressVPN team via live chat to cancel my subscription. The team asked why I was interrupting and if there was anything they could do. When I stated my reasons and was adamant that I didn’t want to stay, the refund was processed and I received my money soon after.

I always think that how the customer support team communicates with you when you want to cancel can be a big red or green flag. If someone tries too hard to keep me, it indicates that they only care about the money and not much about the customer experience. Since I had a good experience with canceling the first time, I felt more confident after signing up with ExpressVPN that I made the right choice.

5 You can use a password manager along with your VPN

There are a lot of password managers out there these days, and I previously compared Bitwarden and 1Password to see which one is the best. Apple also released the Passwords app for iOS/iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. However, I like to have as much as possible in one place – and I’m glad that ExpressVPN has a password manager: ExpressVPN Keys.

Using the ExpressVPN Password Manager

ExpressVPN Keys makes it very easy to import saved passwords from elsewhere. You can import from Chrome, Safari, Edge and Opera. Plus, ExpressVPN lets you import passwords from 1Password, Bitwarden, Dashlane, LastPass, and more.

When you import your credentials, ExpressVPN Keys uses zero-knowledge encryption to keep your information safe. You can access your passwords and usernames by going to the Keys section of the ExpressVPN app.

Since you can connect up to eight devices simultaneously, you may want to use ExpressVPN Keys as your family’s password manager. In addition to passwords, you can add debit and credit cards and secure notes.

6 Customer support is responsive and helpful

In addition to the ease of getting a refund during the risk-free period, ExpressVPN’s customer support team has been very helpful whenever I’ve needed to use them before. For example, I wanted to contact them early on the second time they used the app to help them set it up.

The ExpressVPN team is responsive and knowledgeable, and the live chat feature is very easy to use. For these reasons, I think ExpressVPN is one of the best VPN services out there. Another huge advantage is that the team is available 24/7, meaning you never have to wait too long to get help.

In addition to using live chat, you can also contact ExpressVPN via email.

7 It has excellent built-in blockers

Servers are just one thing consider using a VPN; plenty of other important VPN features will enhance your experience. ExpressVPN is blessed with some excellent built-in blockers.

I’ve used ad blockers elsewhere, but I don’t like how I sometimes get an inconsistent experience on mobile. This is not the case with ExpressVPN’s ad blockers. If you use the app with your family, you can also get it to block adult websites that you don’t want your kids to consume.

Blockers in ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN also has blockers for trackers and websites deemed malicious. So your data should be more secure and hopefully your device will be at lower risk of a breach/cyber attack.

I should point out that you need to be connected to ExpressVPN for these features to work. However, from personal experience they are quite solid.

Despite trying multiple VPNs, I think ExpressVPN is the best all-around option. Its internet speed is consistent and you can connect multiple devices at once. I also like how you can manage passwords in the same app. I strongly recommend trying ExpressVPN at least for a risk-free period.
