These are all the members of the Senju Clan in Naruto.

On his journey, Naruto faced many noteworthy opponents. Most of them caused him no problems, but there were some who were nearly successful in bringing him down. These Naruto characters had immense powers, which enabled them to cause the hero all sorts of problems. With that in mind, here are Naruto’s toughest opponents.

7 Pain/Nagato

Nearly Wiped Out An Entire Village

The Six Paths of Pain were a hexad of different bodies that were directly under the control of Nagato Uzumaki. He was orphaned as a child, after which he met Yahiko and Konan. The three roamed the battlefields until they met Jiraiya, who decided to train them. The Hidden Leaf ninja spent a long time trying to teach them the basics of survival. He had high hopes for Nagato, whom he believed could change the world.

However, Nagato’s mindset changed when Yahiko was forced to kill himself. Nagato went on to lead the Akatsuki, an organization that captured almost all the tailed beasts. When everyone else failed to bring back the Nine-Tails, Nagato decided to have a go at it. He sent the Six Paths of Pain to destroy the village. Soon enough, he engaged in a tussle with Naruto. The fight was intense, and Naruto was pushed on the back foot. Fortunately, Naruto just edged out Pain and saved the Hidden Leaf.

6 Obito Uchiha

Had Six Path Powers

Obito Uchiha was revealed to be the man behind the mask in the Fourth Great Ninja War. He had accepted Madara’s plan as his own and decided to start the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Early in the war, Obito became the jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails and gained an immense amount of power.

Naruto fans owe it to themselves to watch the following filler arcs if they haven’t already.

After his transformation, the entire Ninja Alliance looked lost and without a clue about how to beat him. It was only after Naruto and Sasuke combined their powers that they had little success. Naruto even went inside Obito’s mind to try and reason with him. Ultimately, they were able to undo Obito’s transformation.

5 Madara Uchiha

Took On The Entire Ninja Alliance

Madara Uchiha was reanimated during the Fourth Great Ninja War by Kabuto, who wanted to use him as leverage against Obito. But his plan backfired, and Madara gained complete control of his body. Following a series of events, the legendary ninja proceeded to obtain the power of all the nine tailed beasts, enabling him to ascend to a high level and unlock the power of the Sage of Six Paths.

Madara was dominant throughout the war, and he made short work of almost everyone. Naruto and Sasuke only managed to turn the tide of the battle after they received new powers from the Sage of Six Paths. Unfortunately, fans didn’t get the chance to see how the fight would pan out as Black Zetsu betrayed Madara.

4 Sasuke Uchiha

Only Ninja With Comparable Strength

Following their victory over Kaguya Otsutsuki, Naruto and Sasuke decided to lock horns and settle the score once and for all. Both were exhausted, but they knew that there was no other way. During the fight, Sasuke used his Rinnegan to steal the chakra of the tailed beasts, after which he restrained them.

Naruto wasn’t trying to kill Sasuke, but the latter wasn’t holding back at all. Sasuke used every trick in the book in an attempt to win, but Naruto stood firm. In their last ditch attempt, the two lost one arm each. With no energy left, Sasuke admitted his loss.

3 Kaguya Otsutsuki

Had Multiple Techniques That Could Kill In One-Shot

Kaguya Otsutsuki was revived during the Fourth Great Ninja War by Black Zetsu. She was on a completely different level from the enemies that Naruto had faced in the war. Kaguya possessed the ability to create a Truth Seeking Ball that was strong enough to destroy an entire dimension.

To beat her, Naruto required support from Sasuke, Obito, Kakashi, and Sakura. Naruto also came close to dying in the fight, but Obito sacrificed himself to protect him. The battle only ended after Naruto and Sasuke sealed Kaguya forever.

2 Momoshiki Otsutsuki

Fought Five Kage And Sasuke

Momoshiki Otsutsuki was introduced in Boruto. He came to earth in hopes of finding Kaguya Otsutsuki and chastising her for not delivering the Chakra Fruit.

While Momoshiki was unable to harm Naruto in his base form, things changed after he absorbed Kinshiki Otsutsuki. Momoshiki could absorb any jutsu and release it back with tremendous force. Naruto and Sasuke put in a lot of effort, and eventually they overwhelmed him. If Naruto didn’t get enough help, he wouldn’t have died in the fight.

1 Isshiki Otsutsuki

Defeated Naruto With Ease

Isshiki Otsutsuki is by far the toughest opponent that Naruto has faced. He was Kaguya’s partner, and they were supposed to cultivate the Chakra Fruit. However, she betrayed him and mortally wounded him. With no other option left, Isshiki had to take over Jigen’s body in order to avoid death.

Isshiki had a plethora of weapons in his arsenal, which made him nearly invincible. One of his abilities was Sukunahikona, which enabled him to shrink himself and other objects. He relied on this ability quite often to avoid getting hit by attacks and to catch others off-guard. Naruto had to sacrifice the Nine-Tails to defeat him; otherwise, the Otsutsuki would never have been beaten.
