Key things
- FlexClip is an AI viewer tool for easy video editing with affordable plans and impressive AI image editing features.
- It offers a free entry-level version, cloud storage, and an extensive library of templates and tools.
- FlexClip’s AI text-to-video, translations, and scripting tools enhance video editing and deliver professional results.
Many AI video editing tools go up against established editors like Adobe Premiere Pro or ByteDance’s CapCut, but FlexClip stands out from the crowd. Here’s why it’s quickly becoming my browser-based video editing tool.
What is FlexClip?
FlexClip is a browser-based AI video and image editing tool owned by PearlMountain, the makers of FotoJet, DesignCap Designer and Publisher Plus. Its main focus is video editing, which offers a quick and easy way to create or edit videos without downloading and installing heavy software. It
FlexClip includes both AI and traditional tools, including linear video editing, pre-made templates and a range of generative AI functions. The AI image editing tools are also very useful and once created you can include the images in your videos.
FlexClip is a freemium tool with Plus and Business plans that offers access to more features, more storage and watermark removal.
Why I like FlexClip
FlexClip provides a simple interface that is easy to navigate and learn. Being browser-based means it won’t slow down your computer system by installing large software files, and it also offers cloud storage to avoid local storage issues.
You can connect to your FlexClip account from a browser on your computer or phone and make edits on the go. You’ll have access to its huge library of tools and templates, including an audio library – similar to YouTube’s audio library – that’s 100% free to use with videos published online. FlexClip even allows you to whitelist your YouTube channel so that nothing gets reported once your videos are published.
FlexClip offers a free version that has limited features. I think it’s great because it helps people learn the tool and try it out before committing to an annual plan at a reasonable price of $9.99/month.
The free version allows up to 12 projects with a 10-minute length limit. You can use one video and one stock audio per project, and you’ll have access to a set limit of monthly AI credits. Unfortunately, free videos are exported with a watermark.
My favorite FlexClip video editing features
FlexClip has an excellent range of features to enhance your video editing. These are my favorite.
Templates
FlexClip offers both video and image templates. When you select a template, you’ll have several aspect ratio options for different outputs, such as landscape videos, social media, and portrait videos. Having templates already changed for different aspect ratios is a huge time saver as opposed to changing them yourself.
Video templates also come with audio that you can keep or remove when editing your video.
Text tools
FlexClip offers a number of text tools. Whether you want basic static text above your video, animated text to use the bottom thirds of your videos, or subtitles – a great accessibility feature – FlexClip has you covered.
For static text, a large font library is available in easy-to-navigate category menus. You can choose the font, color, size, alignment, opacity, and even text animation status. You can also use pre-designed animated text layouts by selecting the Text tool on the left. These text layouts are also easy to edit.
The Subtitles tab allows you to add subtitles and subtitles directly to your video in three different ways: the AI Auto Subtitle tool, the Manual Subtitle tool, or the Upload Subtitle File to import subtitles.
The great thing about subtitles in FlexClip is that they can be translated in the app. You can also use artificial intelligence to convert your written captions to speech with a choice of realistic voices, styles, speeds and pitches. Captions can also be edited for visual style like other text elements.
AI Video Tools
Not only can you create text-to-video, but you can also create an entire video from an article URL using Article to Video AI.
While your videos may end up with an “AI-tell” voice and timing, it’s fully editable and customizable, so you can use this feature to save time and then customize it to add a human touch. FlexClip does this much better than other text-to-video tools I’ve tried.
The AI translator is also very impressive, not just translating text but also speech – and you can customize your voices. This is a huge advance in creating videos for different audiences around the world.
The AI Video Script feature lets you enter a script prompt for your video – essentially describing a video you’ve made or want to make – and FlexClip provides a script you can use for narration or commentary. I always recommend custom editing any AI generated text, especially for publishing something, but an AI tool is a good starting point rather than staring at a blank page.
There are always downsides to using AI video text generators, so it might be worth adjusting your expectations.
Endless built-in tools
We’ll be here all day to cover all the features available in FlexClip’s huge library of tools, so here are some of the other built-in tools I like the most:
- Branding
- Audio and video stock libraries
- GIPHY integration
- Video effects
- Direct recording tools
FlexClip also offers photo editing
In October 2024, FlexClip introduced new AI photo editing tools to its software. These tools include AI Photo Colorizer for color restoration on old or damaged photos, which goes hand-in-hand with AI Old Photo Restoration, which can help repair even damaged images.
AI Image Upscaler increases the size and quality of your photos and increases the resolution up to 4 times the original size. There’s also an AI Image Extender – which works similar to Photoshop’s Generative Expand tool – to expand the boundaries of your photo and improve your composition.
Some AI tools are just for fun, like the AI Face Swap tool. The coolest image feature in FlexClip is the AI Image to 3D Animation tool, which brings depth and movement to previously flat images. You can then use these animations in the video editor.
For a browser-based tool that doesn’t come from a major developer, FlexClip offers a lot for easy and professional video editing. The pricing model is good and the AI tools are second to none, providing top-notch video and image editing capabilities in one place.
