Automatic folding in Clipchamp
Microsoft offers a lot of useful AI features in Windows 11. Of course, Copilot is one of them, but you can also find great AI features in native apps. I could talk about them all day, but these are my favorites.
1 Microsoft Copilot
To no one’s surprise, there’s Microsoft Copilot, the heart of AI experiences in the Microsoft ecosystem. This is not just a simple chatbot; it’s like having a smart assistant on your taskbar. Click on Co-pilot icon on the taskbar or press Windows + C start.
Want to create an illustration to go with your LinkedIn post? The co-pilot can do it in seconds. Want to rewrite this email in a more professional tone? The co-pilot has you covered.
But it’s not just the usual generative AI capabilities we’ve seen on ChatGPT or Google Gemini. Copilot integrates with other Windows features and apps, including Microsoft Edge, and can even control your PC.
Need to focus? Ask it to “start a focus session” to silence notifications and optimize your environment. Or tell Copilot to “turn off dark mode” if you want to quickly switch to a dark system theme.
Copilot, as the name suggests, is like having a personal productivity ninja at your fingertips. This is what Cortana once wanted to come back with.
2 Automatic folding in Clipchamp
Forget tedious video editing! Microsoft’s video editing app, Clipchamp, now boasts a game-changing AI-powered auto-composite feature. Use on Clipchamp Create a video with AI option in Home card to start work.
This feature lets you effortlessly create videos from your photos and videos in seconds. I simply uploaded my media, chose a style (or let the AI decide) and voila! Clipchamp automatically selects the best moments, trims clips, adds transitions and even selects suitable background music.
I quite like that it’s not just a one-size-fits-all solution. I can customize the aspect ratio and length of the video and even ask the app to generate multiple versions. This gives me creative control while saving time.
Auto-stacking makes good-looking videos accessible to everyone, regardless of your editing skills. Granted, it may not be a professional edit, but it’s pretty good for dynamic travel vlogs or a heartwarming family montage, as my Instagram likes would testify.
One of the most underrated AI features in Windows 11 has to be the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature baked into the system in a way that makes extracting text from images incredibly easy. The accuracy is also impressive!
Forget third-party apps – now just take a screenshot with the Snipping Tool and the built-in OCR will automatically recognize any text in the image.
Press to use it Windows + Shift + S open the clipping overlay and select the area you want to copy the text from. Click on Cut out tool notification. In the preview window, click on Text actions button (located next to Crop tool) and then tap Copy all the text.
That’s pretty handy, really. Need to copy a quote from an image or online article that doesn’t allow text selection? I can just cut and paste the text where I want. It even works with handwritten notes, which is incredibly useful for digitizing my messy scribbles.
4 Image Creator in Painting
Image Creator is a useful artificial intelligence feature in Microsoft Paint to boost your creativity. It can generate incredible images based on your text descriptions.
Currently, Image Creator is only available in the US, France, UK, Australia, Canada, Italy, and Germany. Only English is currently supported for text prompts.
To use Image Creator, open the Paint and click on Image maker on the toolbar to see the sidebar. Enter a description of the image you want to create in the text box. You can also choose a specific art style, such as charcoal, anime, or watercolor. Image Creator, based on DALL-E, will generate a selection of images based on your prompt.
This is a handy feature if you often need images but lack advanced design skills. Need a quick image for a presentation or social media post? Image Creator can help. I often use it to create illustrations for my blog posts.
Image Creator makes AI image generation accessible to everyone. Image generation is of course also possible with several other AI generative services, but this seamless integration of AI into a classic program like Paint is a pretty good example of how Windows 11 connects AI to familiar computers.
Microsoft has done an excellent job integrating AI features into Windows 11. I think we’ve only seen a glimpse of the evolution and we’ll see the introduction of more and more AI experiences to help us in our daily creative and productive activities.
