How WOW Mode can boost the current BGMI ecosystem
Battlegrounds Mobile India is known for their unique and interesting battle royale experience. Along with the BR mode, it also provides a few other game modes such as Payload, Arena training, Team Deathmatch (TDM), War mode, etc. If we consider the above-mentioned game modes, we will see that all of these are quite old and a major part of the players find these boring. Recently, BGMI has introduced the World of Wonder (WOW Mode) in the game. Playing the WOW mode for almost 100+ hours and understanding its potential, in this article, we discuss how the introduction of WOW mode can boost the current ecosystem of Battlegrounds Mobile India.
What is WOW Mode in BGMI
World of Wonder aka WOW mode is a unique game mode, where we can create special themed maps independently as per our desires. We can create racetracks, cityscapes, special 1v1 or 2v2 modes, and many other scenarios with unlimited customizations. This mode allows players to create and play according to their playstyles and ideas. These maps are also available for other players.
The current state of BGMI’s ecosystem
In recent times, BGMI has experienced a steady decline in its player base. Many old players have already left the game. Although the constant improvisation in classic modes, such as the introduction of new themed game modes, weapons, and other features is attracting players the craze is not the same as before.
Players are also fed up due to many in-game issues such as lack of optimization, server lag, high latency, bugs and glitches, cheaters, etc. Casual players were leaving the game because they didn’t have enough options to explore in the game.
In classic mode, each match takes almost 15-25 minutes to complete. It is quite usual for a Battle Royale but many players are finding it too long hence ignoring the classic modes. Even if we consider smaller maps like Livik and Karakin, the lack of interactive features as compared to big maps like Erangel and Miramar is stopping them from becoming a fan favorite.
WOW Mode brings player engagement
BGMI always tries to bring new modes to keep their player base engaged. For instance, they brought innovative modes like Ultimate Arena and Metro Royale. But, to a certain extent, these all modes have become quite usual and boring for the players.
If I say from a personal point of view, I know many players who just play the game to enjoy the competitive esports scene by playing scrims and tournaments. This is where the arrival of WOW mode plays a crucial role. The esports of BGMI play a big role in keeping the game relevant among its audience. For instance, the latest official event BGMI, the Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series (BMPS) 2024 Grand Finals got a concurrent viewership of 500,000.
With the introduction of the WOW mode in BGMI, it is acting like a fresh wind where players are able to experience brand new scenarios, practice sets, and other fun recreational kinds of stuff like car racing, parkour, etc. without spending a big amount of time like playing a whole classic match. Previously, we were used to practicing in the training ground or cheer park, but in the WOW mode, there are maps where we can practice more freely and improve our gameplay.
How WOW Mode can become a game changer
The WOW mode currently has more than 50 maps to play. These maps include car racing, specific match scenarios, last zone fights, 1v1 showdowns, 2v2 practice sets, deathmatch with specific guns such as shotguns or sub-machineguns, etc. Now we can play as per our wishes and requirements without spending a lot of time.
We will have the opportunity to play a quick 1v1 DBS showdown in WOW mode without risking the rank or points in classic modes, which is not possible in other game modes. We can also experience the adrenaline-rushing last zone fight against two different squads in the Erangel map in just a few seconds. It would take almost 20-25 minutes in a classic match to experience such a scenario. We can also race in the WOW mode with cars, bikes, airplanes, and other vehicles.
We can get the feel of other games such as Fall Guys, Among Us, hide and seek, etc. in WOW Mode. It is one of the biggest features of this mode. The freedom for a player in WOW Mode is immense. Now, we can also build WOW Mode maps to our liking. This new mode provides a lot of new things which were not available in the past.
Opportunities in content creation
The popularity of BGMI is also based massively on online video content. Many YouTubers and content creators play the game and either they stream it online or create gameplay videos. This content also attracts the audience and eventually, they play the game to experience the same.
The WOW mode also enables big opportunities in the content creation section where different content creators will be able to create different engaging content for their followers instead of the same old battle royale flavor. It includes Fall Guys wow mode, bike and car racing, parkour, showdowns, etc. Content creators can also create custom rooms using WOW Mode room cards and play with their fans and followers. This will eventually boost both the game and the creators.
Final Thoughts
Nowadays BGMI is trying very hard to keep the existing playerbase engaged. They are bringing interactive events, interesting collaborations, giveaways, official events, etc. But, at the end of the day, it is the gameplay that will talk on behalf of the game. If the overall experience is mediocre then no aforementioned features would be able to revitalize the game and keep it relevant among us.
The WOW mode surely has a lot of potential and if BGMI keeps on updating the mode with new and innovative maps, features, and other kinds of stuff, the World of Wonder will surely do wonders and will bring back the setting glory of our one of the favorite Battle Royale titles.
