How to Get Amulet of Misty Step
Quick Links
Baldur’s Gate 3 has a wide variety of items that can be collected along the way to enhance the progression of your character build. These items are spread out across several different categories, such as weapons, armor, boots, gloves, shields, rings, and amulets.
Among the various amulets that are available in the game, is the Amulet of Misty Step. This is a Magical Item that offers the addition of the Misty Step Spell to your character build without the need to take up one of your valuable Spell Slots. However, to obtain this item, you’ll need to search a chest that can be quite easily missed if you don’t know where to check. Luckily, the guide below will cover exactly how to get your hands on this item so you can add it to your character build.
Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Get the Hellfire Hand Crossbow
The Hellfire Hand Crossbow makes a fine addition to any ranged sniper build in Baldur’s Gate 3, so knowing how to secure this weapon is crucial.
How to Get Amulet of Misty Step in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Amulet of Misty Step is only available to obtain during Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, so you’ll need to ensure you snag this item before heading past the point of no return. To get started, you’ll need to progress to the Goblin Camp and enter the gates to the inside building known as Shattered Sanctum. Within Shattered Sanctum, there is a doorway to an inner section of the abandoned building named Defiled Temple.
Once inside Shattered Sanctum, walk down the main hallway and take the stairs to the left. This should lead you to Priestess Gut’s chambers, where she may be lurking outside. In case you need the exact location, feel free to refer to the map screenshot below, as Shattered Sanctum has quite a few different rooms to explore, meaning you can get lost from time to time.
In this section of Shattered Sanctum, there will be a locked door labeled ‘Priestess Gut’s Chambers’. To enter this door, you will need one or more of your party members to use a successful Hide Action to avoid being spotted by Gut, and then use a highly dexterous character to Lockpick it. Rogues, in particular, are best at this skill, so if you have Astarion in your party, he will be more than capable of succeeding in this check.
Now all you’ll need to do is sneak through the door, preferably with your entire party. As you enter this next room, you will have stepped into Defiled Temple, where Priestess Gut’s chambers are located. However, it’s not as simple as setting foot in this area, as an Ogre named Polma will be patrolling the hallway on her behalf.
Now you can choose to attempt to sneak past Polma by successfully using the Hide Action to move by unseen, talk to her and undergo checks to try and convince her you belong there, or lastly, take her on in combat – which is the easiest option, provided you have bought your entire party with you.
After bypassing Polma through the method of your choice, continue heading straight past her and into the little room on the Southern side of the hall. In this room there will be a Gilded Chest.
The Amulet of Misty Step can be found inside this Gilded Chest. Luckily, the chest doesn’t have a lock on it, meaning you can simply use any character of your choice and interact with the chest to open it. You can now pick up the Amulet of Misty Step to add it to your inventory or equip it with one of your party members.
Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Get Twist of Fortune
Twist of Fortune is a powerful Morningstar in Baldur’s Gate 3 that can be acquired during Act 2 by going up against a powerful enemy.
How to Get the Best Value From Amulet of Misty Step
Amulet of Misty Step Perks & Skills
- 1x Cast of Misty Step Per Long Rest: Surrounded by silver mist, you teleport to an unoccupied space you can see.
To get the most value from the Amulet of Misty Step, you should look to equip it with a character who does not already have the Spell in their kit, while also being a build that won’t rely on it to get out of trouble as much as squishier casters, such as the Wizard or Sorcerer. Misty Step can be used as a ‘get out of jail free card’ to reposition your character without triggering any opportunity attacks. This makes it the perfect tool for builds that are usually capable of holding their own in combat with most 1v1 situations but may struggle when focused and surrounded by multiple enemies. Some various examples have been listed below:
Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Beat the Harpies & Save Mirkon
In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Harpies are one of the trickier first encounters that you can stumble across, so knowing how to defeat them is important.
- Arcane Trickster: Arcane Trickster Rogues utilize Intelligence as their Spellcasting Modifier, which usually means that to operate as efficiently as possible, the Arcane Trickster may not have as high of DEX or CON skills in comparison to other Rogues. Rogues are already a squishy Class, to begin with, and in the case that these numbers aren’t as strong, an Arcane Trickster will likely struggle more when surrounded at melee range. Thankfully, Misty Step can be a brilliant solution to this.
- Monk: A lot of the time, Monks will rely on getting up close and personal in melee range of enemies to deal damage via Unarmed Strikes and Flurry of Blows. However, if they get into a bad situation, they are often already surrounded by enemies, meaning leaving without a Disengage is risky. Misty Step negates this by enabling your Monk to reposition, heal up, and then dive right back in.
- Cleric: Clerics are brilliant for utility, and will often have a lot of Spells that can be used to assist others in battle. However, as the Cleric will often be the main utility character and/or healer for your party, you’ll want to ensure their survivability in combat over all other characters. Adding Misty Step into the mix enables a Cleric with more survivability, which will help to keep themselves alive, and therefore their team alive.
