KONAMI’s eFootball had a banger of a new season start with the v4.0.0 update, which was followed by the v4.1.0 update, which was decent enough as well. Within these updates, something that has stayed constant is the two packs that you can purchase with coins, the Starter Pack. In these two packs, you have two iconic footballers and eFootball ambassadors, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. Of course, you can buy both these packs, but always there is this question about which one to go for if you have funds only for one pack. I reviewed the Lionel Messi Starter Pack the last time around, so now, here is my dedicated review of the Neymar Pack and its contents in eFootball 2025.

eFootball 2025 Neymar Jr Starter Pack: Contents and Neymar Review

The pack includes EXP training points (up to 4,000 x 22) and an in-game strip, along with Neymar. Although it’s priced at 1,800 coins, you get 450 coins back, which is a nice bonus. Additionally, there are 10 highlight players available for you to enjoy playing with. However, there are both positives and negatives to this pack. Let’s start the review by focusing on the star of the pack, Neymar.

Neymar

  • Position: LWF
  • Playstyle: Prolific Winger

Neymar’s key features include the option to have Double Boosters, which allow improvements in areas like speed, technique, and physicality. You can choose this depending on the build you will have for him, but the build itself is kind of confusing, in my opinion.

Since he is the young, rapid Neymar version, a LWF option is something you should look at. When you compare it with the free Daily Game Neymar we received, it is an upgrade since the default Deep Lying Forward style of the Santos version can pose challenges for playing him as LWF. Here, he is a natural winger, so no need to take the help of instructions to make him stay in wide areas and play as a winger.

I suggest not building him as a CF. His finishing isn’t decent, and if used as a center forward, his playstyle won’t activate, essentially turning him into a neutral gold poacher without his signature skills. It makes him drop deeper, which doesn’t fit well with quick one-twos or ping-pong football.

When building Neymar, focusing on offensive awareness is a good start. You can boost his finishing to reduce missed scoring chances while improving dexterity will make his positioning sharper in attack. Adding skills like Pinpoint Crossing and Weighted Pass enhances his value as both a finisher and a creator.

If you already have the free Neymar from last season (earned by completing the penalty challenge), you know it’s already a strong card with high stats in dribbling and finishing. You might prefer sticking with that version, as many feel the older ones are already “insane” and may not see the need for this new release.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

  • Position: GK
  • Playstyle: Offensive Goalkeeper

Despite being rated 85 at base, Donnarumma’s performance is often underwhelming, with players favoring more reliable options like Keylor Navas from the Messi pack. His being tall doesn’t save his performance, and surprisingly, almost every Donna card seems to have the reflex issue.

Marquinhos

  • Position: CB
  • Playstyle: Build Up

A short CB becomes an issue if he doesn’t have the awareness to back it up, but Marquinhos is a very good fit as a Build Up center-back. His defending ticks all the boxes, pace is decent but winning headers sometimes might be an issue, as I’ve noticed him failing in physical duels.

Achraf Hakimi

  • Position: RB
  • Playstyle: Offensive Full-Back

With a focus on pace, Hakimi can become an attacking threat by sacrificing some defensive attributes, but still, those are decent. Skills like the Weighted Pass and One Touch Pass can improve his ability to contribute in the final third and make him more involved in the link-up play.

Bruno Guimaraes

  • Position: DMF
  • Playstyle: Orchestrator

I’ve been a fan of this card in eFootball even when he was in Lyon as he is a balanced and versatile midfielder. One of the best options available, Guimarães offers a solid mix of defense, dribbling, and passing. His flexibility allows him to excel in various midfield roles and can escape the press thanks to his dribbling abilities.

Xavi Simons

  • Position: AMF
  • Playstyle: Hole Player

Now, this is one of the better picks in this pack. Quick, good on the ball, good passing, and decent finishing make Xavi Simons an excellent choice for the AMF position. I think if you sacrifice some passing and build him as an SS with a buff for finishing, he will be well-suited.

Raphinha

  • Position: RWF
  • Playstyle: Prolific Winger

This card is pretty unfair on Raphinha. He is a great passer in real life, but here he’s been undone with such poor passing stats and zero skills either. Other than that, he offers excellent pace and flair on the wings but can be inconsistent with finishing. Best used as a creative outlet, but again, not worth an option to look at.

Arthur

  • Position: CMF
  • Playstyle: Orchestrator

He used to be a Xavi-type card, holding the ball, controlling the tempo, and distributing it. He has a similar profile and is kind of still one of the best passing mids. But in the current meta, he might be bullied off the ball easily, lack of height and physical contact.

Richarlison

  • Position: CF
  • Playstyle: Goal Poacher

With mediocre performances, Richarlison fails to stand out among other attacking options, making him an easy discard choice for many players. I’m harsh on this card because it has skills and some all-around skills and stats, and can head and finish, but he feels sluggish on the ball and doesn’t reflect as a solid striker option.

Alexis Sanchez

  • Position: CF
  • Playstyle: Deep-Lying Forward

A striker with only 80 pace is something you would consider very rarely, but Sanchez has decent stats in him. However, he feels too sluggish for many players’ liking, limiting his effectiveness in fast-paced attacks. Building him as an SS would be a better fit to buff his dribbling, but at max, he can be a backup for themed matches.

Danilo Pereira

  • Position: CB
  • Playstyle: Build Up

A decent card, not so attractive by any means. Although now a center-back, his slow speed makes him less appealing. His skills are very good though, has everything you need for a defender. He can also play as a defensive midfielder, but better alternatives exist in this role.

Now, when these packs were released, I was excited to bag both and eventually did it. But when the announcement of us getting the MSN Epic pack was revealed, I kind of thought about whether it was the right decision to go for this one.

End of the day, if you ask me if I could pick one pack out of the two, Messi is my preference. Neymar is surely a better dribbler, but Messi gives me that cushion for finishing and explosiveness. If you haven’t packed any of them yet, wait for the MSN with as many coins as possible, which I believe will be better than these two picks.
