- RGB lighting and excellent button feedback are its major highlights
- A rubber padding on the bottom might have improved the handling experience
The market currently has plenty of amazing controllers that you can try and buy for any platform, be it PC, Mobile, or Console. With so many options available, each device often tries to stand out with unique features and don a fresh design that will elevate your gaming experience. One of these standout options is the EasySMX X15 Controller. With a great visual look already, I was excited to try out this controller and check what it offers on the table. After testing it out and having fun playing multiple games with it on both Mobile and PC, here’s a full-fledged review of the EasySMX X15 Controller and a verdict if it would be a worthy purchase.
My choice to go for the X15
I used to be someone who would just replace my Xbox Bluetooth controllers continuously when they were getting damaged and didn’t think much of buying another replacement. For me, it was all about performance, not looks, so I didn’t even bother checking out other brands. But that changed when I stumbled upon the EasySMX X15.
You might think I’m exaggerating, but the EasySMX store has a pretty solid collection of controllers. What caught my eye was the X15, and it was surprisingly simple yet impressive. It comes in two colors: white and black. The black one, known as the “Mecha” edition, was my pick. I knew my snacking habits would definitely leave the “Starfield” white edition looking less than gorgeous within a few days, so the darker one was the safer bet for me.
Now, coming to the pricing, at the time of purchase a couple of months ago, it was around $40 (3,500 INR), and it hasn’t changed. There were way cheaper options, but absolutely, the product had good to great feedback, so that pushed me further to invest in it. The box I received had the Controller, Type C to Type A cable and a Micro USB OTG connector.
The X15 is a visual standout, ticks build quality
Alright, it might be the third time I’m writing about how visually good this controller looks, but seriously, it is worth the price. Whether you prefer the Starfield or Mecha options, both are excellent choices. I went with the Mecha edition, and after getting a closer look, I can say the design is really attractive, with the color choices being spot-on.
Coming to the most attractive aspect of this device is the RGB lighting, which offers vibrant 7-color lighting that gives it a stylish look. When you boot up the device, the lighting display is a real treat, and it stands out even during the day, grandly lit. It is also customizable, so you can create a personalized atmosphere by choosing between vibrant color modes or a more subtle monochrome setting. If you are playing in the dark, you will have no issues identifying the buttons.
With the build quality, the fit and finish are excellent, no complaints. The high-quality plastic used here ensures it’s incredibly sturdy. You can apply quite a bit of force without worrying about it breaking. The buttons are well fit, with Hall Effect Joysticks and Triggers with no drift, while the programmable back paddles and turbo function option can be customized to your liking. Triggers are on the balanced side and the analog sticks feel strong enough to last countless hours of gaming, with no heating issues either.
With excellent button feedback, no issues with latency
Jumping to the part where many questions are asked, the feedback of the buttons. I’ve tried both the mobile and PC games on this controller, offline and online PvP experiences as well, and overall, I can say I’m satisfied with the performance. The vibration feedback is right on the money, intense enough to feel immersive, but not so overwhelming that your hands will be ringing afterward. You can also adjust that to your liking.
I’m into sports and action games, so my first try was Warzone on my iQOO Neo 7 Pro. Yes, not many are a fan of it, but I thought the console experience would be decent. Apart from getting battered by highly skilful players on their fingers, I could feel the movement and response time was pretty adequate, and didn’t find any noticeable delay while shooting or reloading. The same goes for my PC experience with EA Sports FC, the skill moves and trigger buttons were responsive to my liking, and even in FUT too.
Now, something to note is that this comes with both Wired and Bluetooth support. I tested both options across multiple games and didn’t notice any significant difference. Of course, we’ve been fed with how wired controllers are the ones faster in response time but here I think the make of the device is pretty neatly done and delivers consistent performance regardless of the connection type.
A grippy feel although comfort might be a miss
The keyword here is “might” for a reason. I’ll explain why. Overall, it comes with an ergonomic shape that fits well in the hands. On the top side of the controller, you have hard plastic, but the feel and touch are on the smoother side, so very comfy. On the bottom, there’s a gripping surface that seems to be designed to prevent slipping, and it works just as intended; it’s quite grippy, which is especially useful if you tend to be a bit messy. No offense intended, of course.
Now, that’s where I wasn’t comfy with. Right from the first touch, I wasn’t pleased with how it felt. Holding the controller initially felt irritating, and even after using it for a while, it remained uncomfortable during long gaming sessions. After regularly playing with the controller, I did get a hang of it, but it is it’s not ideal for long sessions of gaming. I would prefer textured rubber or any soft touch material even if it makes my palm sweaty. But, depending on your personal preference, you might find it to your liking.
Final Verdict: Should you buy the EasySMX X15 Controller
Well, if you’ve made it this far, the section has arrived where I drop my verdict. If you ask me, the EasySMX X15 is worth the price. It has everything you want from a controller; to design, premium look, build quality, and experience. The multi-platform compatibility is a deal breaker in itself, which means you can enjoy gaming on a console, PC, or mobile device.
If it fits your style and budget, go for it. There are color options and even a good number of cheaper alternatives from the EasySMX catalog itself, so you can browse through them and see what’s a better fit for you.
