Top recommendations for the best robot vacuums

Roborock Q8 Max+

Best overall

Highly reliable

$600 $820 Save
$220

The Roborock Q8 Max+ offers premium features at a fairly affordable price, making it ideal for anyone who wants to strike cleaning floors from their chore list. It boasts 5,500Pa suction, uses 3D mapping for easy navigation, features a dual brush system, self-empties the dust bin, and is Alexa-compatible.

Pros
  • Powerful suction
  • Smart navigation
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • A bit loud at maximum suction

Roborock’s Q8 Max series offers some of the most reliable robot vacuums, and the Roborock Q8 Max+ is as efficient as they come. Like most units in its class, it can vacuum and mop while navigating its way around obstacles. The LiDAR sensor maps the floor layout in real-time, allowing the bot to clean the entire area without getting stuck.

It has two rubber roller brushes that dig deep into carpet fibers, lifting dirt and hair, and the 5,500Pa suction system sends everything to the onboard 470ml bin. The charging station has a 2.5l dust bag that supports multiple uses without requiring service. When using the mop function, you can adjust the water flow to match your needs and flooring material. All adjustments can be made through the Roborock app.

The same can be achieved through Alexa, Xiaomi Mi Home, or Google Assistant. You can cover about 1,250 square feet when mopping with this device, thanks to its 350ml water tank and long battery life (4 hours). The Q8 Max+’s only negative is that the mop pads must be cleaned manually, unlike most models that self-clean after each session. All in all, though, it’s a great buy and will completely change how you vacuum and mop your floors.

Dreamebot L30 Ultra

Premium pick

Expensive but worth it

The Dreamebot L30 Ultra is a highly advanced smart robot vacuum with 7,300Pa suction and dual fast-spinning mop pads that will leave your floors cleaner than before. It has a bristleless roller brush for effective carpet cleaning, a built-in camera for object and dirt detection, pairs with Alexa and Google Assistant, and more.

Pros
  • Exceptionally powerful suction
  • Long runtime per charge
  • Intelligent navigation
Cons
  • Dirt detection system needs improvement

Very few robot vacuums come close to what the Dreamebot L30 Ultra offers. It aced all the cleaning tests that we performed and outshines most of the robotic vacuums that we’ve ever tested. For starters, it has one of the most powerful suction systems at 7,300Pa, giving it a slight edge over other high-end options like the S8 Pro Ultra. Its wind power is more than enough to lift anything from tiny breadcrumbs to stubborn grains of sand. Moreover, it can safely clean wooden floors, carpets, vinyl flooring, marble, and more.

The bristleless roller brush is an excellent carpet cleaner, while the two mop pads easily remove stains and apply just the right amount of pressure to the floor surface. Similar to most robot vacuum and mop combos, this bot lifts the mop pads when not needed, especially when vacuuming rugs and carpets. The base station can hold 4.5l of clean water, so the bot will always have a fresh supply — it just needs to dock. Best of all, the L30 Ultra cleans its mop pads with hot water at 135°F before and after each mopping session.

What we like most about the L30 Ultra is that it uses an AI-assisted camera to differentiate rooms and detect dirt. However, on several occasions the bot circled back and redid some areas it had already cleaned. It did this even on spotlessly clean sections, so Dreametech needs to tweak the sensors to control the L30 Ultra’s perfectionist behavior.

Battery performance is great, with the 6,400mAh power unit giving you about 3 hours of cleaning time, depending on the suction and mopping mode you are using. The L30 Ultra works with Google Assistant and Alexa, but we recommend the former since it unlocks more features. By using the Dreamehome app, you can customize floor layout maps and view other bot parameters in real time.

Dreametech D9 Max

Best value

Super efficient

Give your floors a quick wipe with the Dreametech D9 Max, a mid-range robot vacuum with a lot to offer. It has strong suction (4000Pa), mops and vacuums, uses LiDAR technology for autonomous navigation, integrates with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and can clean all floor types.

Pros
  • Great vacuuming performance
  • Reasonably priced
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • Roller brush easily gets tangled by pet hair
  • Mapping system could be better

If you are looking for a robot vacuum and mop combo that offers good value for money, the Dreametech D9 Max may just be the right device for you. In our testing, it easily vacuumed 410 square feet of wooden floor space in about one and a half hours. The D9 Max is rather unique compared to most robot vacs with a similar design, sporting a hybrid roller brush made of rubber with bristles. This enables it to pick hair from carpets and hard surfaces with just a few passes.

However, the bristles can be a deal-breaker when vacuuming long strands of hair. We had to manually pull out some of the hair from the bristles to allow the brush to roll smoothly. On the plus side, this robot vacuum delivers 4,000Pa suction, which is quite impressive for its size. The 570ml dust bin is not the largest and will require frequent emptying when covering large areas. And the 270ml water tank enables you to mop about 1,500 square feet of floor space with a single refill. You can also adjust the water flow according to your cleaning needs.

With its 5,200mAh battery, the D9 Max can clean nonstop for 150 minutes. It may run for a longer or shorter time depending on the mode of operation, but this shouldn’t worry you much since the bot can move to the charging station on its own. The Dreametech D9 Max easily pairs with smartphones and tablets through the Dreamehome app, giving you complete control of all bot functions. For voice control, you can use Google Assistant or Alexa.

Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

Efficient cleaning

Almost perfect

Effectively clean your floors with the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, a high-performance robot vacuum and mop combo with an impressive 6,000Pa of suction and excellent scrubbing performance. It utilizes 3D mapping technology for smooth navigation, empties itself, has two bristleless roller brushes for tangle-free cleaning, and works with smart home assistants (Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant).

Pros
  • Customizable mapping system
  • Excellent suction
  • Self-emptying
Cons
  • Only works with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
  • Quite expensive

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is one of the best robot vacuums you can buy, so long as you don’t mind the steep price tag. Yes, this bot is quite expensive, so we subjected it to rigorous testing to determine if it’s worth the price.

We like that it’s powerful, with a maximum suction of 6,000Pa, allowing it to easily lift household debris. It doesn’t matter whether you want to clean hard floors or carpets, the S8 Pro will help you get the job done. With the help of the mop function, the bot can effortlessly scrub off stains, thanks to its fast-moving vibration modules that output 3,000 scrubbing motions per minute.

This unit is fully autonomous and uses an AI-assisted 3D mapping system that enables it to avoid obstacles during the cleaning process. The 5,200mAh battery on this robot vacuum provides 3 hours of cleaning time per charge, while the 3l tank holds enough water to mop up to 3,230 square feet of floor space. It also has a 2.5l dust bin that can hold dirt for about a month, depending on how often you vacuum your floors.

Another of this vacuum’s benefits is that you can program the bot to mop along the grain of wooden flooring. As a result, your floors will come out clean with no streaks. You can access all features and functions through the Roborock app, and can also use Xiaomi Mi Home. Integrating the S8 Pro with Google Assistant or Alexa unlocks voice control, and it empties, cleans, and dries itself, so you’ll never have to touch this vacuum cleaner. It also lifts the mop pads when vacuuming carpets, so you don’t have to worry about them getting wet.

Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni

Best hybrid

Do it all robot vacuum

$1045 $1500 Save
$455

With 8,000Pa of suction power, the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni can effectively vacuum high-pile carpets, hard floors, low-pile carpets, and rugs without problems. Though expensive, it performs exceptionally well, cleans its mop pads with hot water, automatically docks when the battery is low, has its own voice assistant called Yiko, and more.

Pros
  • Reliable navigation system
  • Hygienic mopping
  • Powerful suction
Cons
  • Would be better if the bot was circular
  • Expensive

The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni is slightly cheaper than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, but the two robot vacuums perform almost the same, with the X2 Omni delivering better results when lifting debris off hard surfaces. This is mainly because it generates 8,000Pa of suction compared to the S8 Pro’s 6,000Pa. Unlike most robot vacuums, the X2 Omni doesn’t have the LiDAR dome protruding at the top, meaning it can easily clean under most furniture.

Interestingly, this bot only has a single rubber roller brush, but still does a good job removing pet hair from carpets and hard floors. The charging dock has a 3l dust bag that Ecovacs claims can hold dirt for about 60 days. We didn’t have enough debris to fill it up, despite having two high-shedding dog breeds and using the bot thrice a week for seven weeks. This may, however, vary based on how often you use the vacuum cleaner and the amount of debris picked up per cleaning session.

The 6,400mAh battery keeps the bot powered for about 3 hours, depending on the cleaning mode that is in use. We were able to vacuum and mop roughly 1,200 square feet of floor space with the bot docking only once for a charge. The onboard sensors ensure the X2 Omni applies the ideal suction power and lifts its mopping pads when needed. The vacuum also uses Yiko, a smart voice assistant from Ecovacs, and the Ecovacs Home app provides cleaning data, floor space covered, and other useful information that’ll help you get the best out of the Deebot X2 Omni.

iLife V5s Plus

Best basic

Compact, stylish, and reliable

$180 $200 Save
$20

The iLife V5s Plus is a versatile, super affordable robot vacuum, making it ideal for anyone on a budget. It delivers fairly powerful suction, works with Google Assistant and Alexa, features two side brushes for cleaning edges, has a wide suction vent that won’t clog easily, and includes a remote.

Pros
  • Good collision and anti-drop sensors
  • Easy to set up
  • Slim design
Cons
  • A bit slow compared to high-end models
  • Small dust bin

iLife is known for its low-budget yet reliable robot vacuums, and the V5s Plus is no exception. It boasts 110 minutes of uninterrupted cleaning on a single charge and automatically docks when the 2,600mAh battery is about to run out of juice. The onboard brushless motor generates powerful suction, delivering about 23 cfm of airflow at maximum setting. This robot vacuum ships with two 300ml tanks — one for water and the other for holding dirt.

You’ll also get an extra mopping pad and a cleaning brush for your convenience. A remote is included, but you can also control it using voice assistants such as Alexa and Google’s smart home assistant. Simply link the bot to your smartphone through the iLife Home app, and it will be ready to go. Although the vacuum employs random navigation, it offers good coverage and can clean 1,290 square feet of floor space in less than 2 hours.

Since it does not have a roller brush, the V5s Plus can lift hair without getting tangled. This, however, limits it from picking hair deeply embedded in carpets and rugs. The two side brushes allow the robot vacuum to clean hard-to-reach corners, while its compact design makes it easy to slide under furniture, so dust bunnies won’t stand a chance. On the downside, the iLife V5s Plus cannot vacuum and mop simultaneously like most robot vacuums these days. You have to replace the dust bin with the water tank when mopping, which is annoying.

Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus

Solid mid-range pick

A robot vacuum that does it all

The Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus is a neat 3800Pa-suction vacuum and mop combo robot that cleans without downtime for almost 60 days. It boasts over 4 hours of runtime with precision mapping and LiDAR navigation.

Pros
  • Powerful suction
  • Great companion app
  • Auto-empties

The Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus is a feature-rich vacuum and mop combo that remarkably combines 3800pa suction vacuuming and a competent mop function without the price tag of similar spec models. One of its highlights is its auto-empty station, which ensures you won’t need to empty its dustbin every few days.

Allergy sufferers will appreciate the powerful filtration of dust and allergens to reduce odor, thereby minimizing symptoms. The auto-empty station stores dirt and debris for up to 60 days in a layered and sealed dust bag while the robot completes its rounds using LiDAR-based navigation. When it’s time to dispose of the dirt, the process is mess-free.

Ecovac’s Deebot can detect carpets and avoid wetting them automatically, but if you want your floor mopped, the mop attachment will need regular cleaning. The Deebot N10 Plus also supports Alexa voice assistant and has an intuitive companion app for remote control to help the bot map your floor spaces in seconds.

iRobot Roomba Combo j7+

Unique retractable mop

The Roomba to get if you want to vacuum and mop

$699 $900 Save
$201

Roomba Combo j7+ sits on top of iRobot’s robot vacuum lineup and is a premium offering. It includes a self-empty station, camera-based navigation, and a retractable mop.

Pros
  • Retractable mop is nifty
  • Companion app is user-friendly
  • Two-month operation
Cons
  • Small mop pad
  • Water tank requires frequent refilling

The Roomba Combo j7+ is the most advanced smart vacuum and mop combo from iRobot, featuring advanced navigation and surface and obstacle detection. It’s the first of its robot vac to feature an articulated mop that automatically lifts itself to be stored on top until needed, making it great for rooms that combine carpet and hard floors.

It also features iRobot’s famous dual rubber brushes, which help to capture debris without letting hair get tangled around them. There’s also a side brush to clean corners, an edge-cleaning brush, and a washable mop pad that cleans hard floors to a brilliant shine.

Designed to be fully autonomous, the Coba j7+ operates for about two months without manual intervention. Amazingly, its AI technology learns the rooms with time, enhancing the detection of spills, dirt build-up, and stains to improve cleaning efficiency. However, the base doesn’t clean the mop pad, so you’ll have to do that yourself with this product. We’re impressed with its compact and stylish design.

Eufy Clean X8 Pro

Best for pet hair

Self-detangles for smooth operation

The Eufy Clean X8 Pro is a smart robot vacuum and mop combo featuring a dual turbine system that delivers up to 4000pa of suction per turbine, allowing for easy and quick removal of pet hair, dirt, dander, and other debris. It boasts a self-detangling roller brush, utilizes AI technology for smooth navigation, has a self-emptying station, and easily integrates with Google Assistant and Alexa.

Pros
  • Powerful suction
  • Good scrubbing perfomance
  • Easy to work with
Cons
  • Mapping system could be better

The problem with most robot vacuums is that they easily get clogged by hair. Well, Eufy offers the Clean X8 Pro, a powerful robot vacuum with self-detangling capabilities. It has two high-speed turbines that generate an impressive 4000pa of suction each, which is enough to lift most household debris. That said, it can easily remove dander, pet hair, and dirt from hard floors and carpets.

Plus, it allows you to adjust suction power depending on the surface type. As such, the bot will apply more suction when cleaning carpets and rugs, leaving them cleaner than before. Like most robot vacuums, it uses laser-assisted navigation for object detection and avoidance. With this feature in place, the X8 Pro will not run over your pets or bump into walls and other objects.

Once the robot is done cleaning, it will empty its contents into the included station with a 2.5l tank that can hold dirt for about 45 days, depending on the cleaning frequency and amount of dirt collected in each session. The built-in 270ml tank holds enough water to mop spaces up to 700 square feet. However, this may vary based on the water level you are using. Best of all, you can link this robot vacuum to your phone via the Eufy Clean app and even integrate it with Alexa or Google Assistant.

Shark AI Ultra 2in1

Multifunctional and dependable

High on features, low on price

$400 $700 Save
$300

The Shark AI Ultra is a reliable mid-range vacuum and mop combo that has no trouble navigating, thanks to the LiDAR mapping. It also comes with an auto-empty station that reduces the hands-on time with the robot vacuum.

Pros
  • Long battery life
  • Great navigation skills
Cons
  • Auto empty doesn’t always work properly

The Shark AI Ultra 2in1 is an advanced and powerful robot that can vacuum and mop simultaneously, rivaling high-end products from manufacturers like Dreametech and Roborock for almost half the price. Shark knows vacuum cleaners and has ensured that this one delivers impeccable cleaning thanks to proprietary smart mapping, AI navigation, and object detection technology.

The robot will automatically use several passes and avoid missed spots. In addition, the Shark AI Ultra 2in1 uses air blasts to remove debris from corners and vacuum them on the way. Its sonic mopping technology helps remove hard stains, and flexible silicone fins catch debris while preventing hair from getting wrapped around the brush.

The bagless HEPA-filtered cleaning keeps odors and allergens at bay, while the self-emptying base keeps its function hands-free. One downside is that it doesn’t use the same smart approach as its rivals when it comes to the mop, so you’ll have to dampen and wash it yourself.

$499 $799 Save
$300

  • If the robot is offline, you cannot see it in the app
  • Can enter sleep mode and go offline if stuck

You don’t have to worry about tangles as the anti-static brushes of Samsung’s Jet Bot+ are surrounded by self-cleaning extractors.

This bot is entirely programmable via the Samsung SmartThings app, making it easy to select and schedule specific areas of your home to clean. The Bissell SpinWave Pet is a powerful 2-in-1 wet mop and dry robot vacuum that is ideal for cleaning pet stains, dust, and dander. This robot uses a range of cleaning solutions, using rotating mop pads to scrub floors with Wi-Fi-based navigation. It works exclusively with the Bissell Connect app.

Pros
  • Powerful wet/dry cleaning combo
  • Robust brushes to scrub floors

The SpinWave Pet features dual spinning edge brushes with a rotating brush roll to agitate and lift debris sucked up by the robot’s 1500Pa suction. Unlike many dual-function vacuum robots, this bot’s mop pads rotate for a more thorough clean. The Bissell SpinWave Pet can only be controlled via the Bissell Connect App, but for a pet owner, its excellent cleaning action makes it a great buy.

Smart robot vacuum cleaners that get your floors clean

It’s great that there is an impressive selection of robot vacuum cleaners and mops that really get your floors clean. With so many options, it can be hard to know which one is right for your home, but this round-up covers everything from a basic sweeper to a high-spec, self-cleaning and emptying vacuum and mop combo.

Furthermore, these bots can safely clean all floor types, including delicate hardwood. You should, however, set the ideal water level when using models with the mop function, since some stains require more water while others just need a little to come out.

A few of these models deliver better value than others. Take a closer look at the Dreametech D9 Max, which is one of the best cheap robot vacuums to buy if you just want a unit that lightly cleans your floors daily.

Those looking to go premium will benefit from the Dreamebot L30 Ultra’s long list of advanced features. It has excellent suction, intelligent programming, and navigation. Plus, it will clean your floors and itself for days without you needing to lift a finger.

But for the best of both worlds, the Roborock Q8 Max+ has the powerful suction needed to cover all floor surfaces while also giving hard floors a thorough clean with its mopping action.
