Skill Analysis

Esmeralda is a hero with the common four skill sets of one passive and three actives. In this Esmeralda guide, let’s see what are her abilities in Mobile Legends, and when you can use which skill to get the best out of her.

Passive – Starmoon Casket (Buff, Shield)

Best Build, Emblem and Gameplay Tips

Esmeralda manipulates Stardust and Frostmoon: Stardust deals Physical Damage while Frostmoon deals Magic Damage and gives the target a shield equal to 135% of Frostmoon’s damage dealt. Each Basic Attack deals (+100% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage and 100 (+75% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage.

Skill 1 – Frostmoon Shield (Shield, Buff)

Esmeralda gains 300–750 (+150% Total Magic Power) shield and 40% Movement Speed which rapidly decays over its duration for 4 seconds. Meanwhile, she gradually transforms the shields of her nearby enemies into her shield, an amount unknown capped at 50% of her Max HP.

Skill 2 – Stardust Dance (AoE, Buff)

Esmeralda waves Stardust and Frostmoon, dealing 240–440 (+60% Total Magic Power) Physical Damage and 300–550 (+120% Total Magic Power) Physical Damage Magic Damage to nearby enemies. Each time she deals damage to a hero, the cooldown of Frostmoon Shield is reduced by 1.5 seconds (damaging non-hero units grants a 0.5 seconds reduction) and the enemy’s Movement Speed is reduced by 10% for 1.5 seconds.

Hold: Esmeralda coheres the power of Astrospace into her two weapons – Stardust and Frostmoon. The longer the duration lasts, the greater the power will be.
Release: Esmeralda casts the Stardust at the target location, dealing 350–650 (+90% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage, and then blinks to the target location and casts Frostmoon, dealing 350–650 (+140% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and immobilizing enemies in the area for 1 second.

Skill-up Methods for Esmeralda

Upgrade Skill 2 to the max level first. Prioritizing this makes the base damage of this skill higher. Then upgrade your skill 1 accordingly and Ultimate whenever available. You can also upgrade your skill 1 first if you prefer survival to deal with the damage.

Best Emblem Set and Spells for Esmeralda in Mobile Legends

Emblem Set

Esmeralda is the most popular Exp laner for her ability to dominate the lane, rotate to other lanes, and hit the backlines in a team fight. To make Esmeralda’s gameplay more effective in the Exp lane, players are expected to use the Custom Support Emblem for Healing Effect, Cooldown Reduction & Movement speed. Players can use whichever Talents suits better for their gameplay. However, we’ve brought up some of the best Emblem/Talent setups that are advisable for Esmeralda.

The Custom Support Emblem, ever since its Revamp, provides players with access to 3 different talents. Hence, for Esmeralda Emblem Set-up, the following setup is expected:

  • In the First-Tier Talent, we choose Agility as it provides extra movement speed, primarily useful in the early game rotation to other lanes after a cut lane. Healing effects from the Custom Support Emblem is very useful for Esmeralda as it gives HP regen and helps Esmeralda to sustain more on the battlefield.
  • In the Second-Tier Talent, we choose Festival of Blood for life-steal. Esmeralda will gain a 6% spell vamp and after every kill or assist she will get an additional 0.5% spell vamp. The Festival of Blood will help Esmeralda in lifesteal so that she can stay longer on the battlefield.
  • In the Third tier, we choose Lethal Ignition for giving extra damage on Multi-Hits. The Lethal Ignition Talent gives burn damage to enemies if you give 3 hits to the enemy hero within 5 sec.

Spells

Sprint is one of the best spells for Esmeralda. As it removes CC and increases movement speed for a certain amount of time, it helps Esmeralda to escape from tricky satiation or chase any low HP enemy. Flicker is also a good spell for her.

Best Builds for Esmeralda in Mobile Legends

Esmeralda is a tanky hero with skills of giving damage, gaining shield, and health regen. She uses her first skill and second skill to provide a shield to enemies and take them back. With her ultimate, she also deals damage and immobilization. Esmeralda is not a basic damage dealer instead, she gives magic damage with her skills, and it would be better to build semi-tank items for her to sustain more. We have created the following template in our guide to try out Esmeralda on the Mobile Legends battlefield. Start building with Warrior boots/Tough boots while laning. Build the Warrior Boots if the enemy laner is a physical damage dealer & if the enemy laner is a magical damage dealer build Tough boots. For the second item, you can build the Enchanted Talisman for mana regeneration. As Esmeralda is a mana-based hero, her skills do consume a lot of mana in the early game, that’s why Enchanted Talisman is needed for the early game mana control.

For the third Item, you can build the Dominance ice which will reduce enemies’ HP regeneration and healing effects. For the Fourth item, you can have the Oracle as it gives magic defence, cool down reduction, hp regen effects, and shield gaining increased for 30%. For the Fifth item, you can have Ice Queen Wand, as it gives magic power, spell vamp, hp, and movement speed without using skills to slow the target for 3 seconds. For the sixth item, you can have the Brute force Breastplate for physical defence. You can go for more magical defence if the enemies have more magic damage.

Mobile Legends Esmeralda Gameplay Tips

Even though Esmeralda looks invincible, some aspects should be taken into consideration to reach the moment. However, a player must understand the map well to bring the best out of any hero. According to her gameplay, we can break it down into three phases. Our Mobile Legends Esmeralda guide includes the perfect game plan for Esmeralda’s early, mid, and late gameplay.

Early Game

Despite being a tank-class hero, Esmeralda is kind of squishy without her core items. Always keep your eyes on the map, retreat if facing two or more enemies and proceed with caution when facing one enemy. A smart Esmeralda knows how to engage and retreat.

Esmeralda is mostly played as the Exp or offlaner of a team. Esmeralda can cut the enemy minions very easily in the early game because of her shield-receiving ability and roams around the map to disrupt the enemy jungler’s farm.

Mid Game

After getting her core items, engaging in fights should be fine for Esmeralda. However, please don’t initiate a team fight; she can be CC-ed and die easily if she gets targeted first. She can deal a lot of damage over time after getting Enchanted Talisman because her cooldown is lower, and she doesn’t have to worry about mana, so be active in clearing waves and participate in team fights. Esmeralda is very good at engaging and disengaging. She uses her skills to give enemies shields and take them back.

Skill 1+Skill 2+Skill 1+ Skill 2

Focus and kill squishy heroes (MM, Mage, Assassin) with the help of your skill 2 and skill 1 combo. If you can not get enough farm because of your carry then try to do the split push. Don’t worry, as your increased movement speed will help you to do so.

Late Game

Though she is not a proper tank she can sock a lot of damage from enemies. Join the fight with the teammates. Do not be afraid to save your carry, try to hide in the bush and after initiation just jump over the enemy with the help of your skill 3. You can cast your skill combos like this-

Skill 1+Skill 2+Skill 3 + Skill 2

When it comes to hitting enemies’ backline, Esmeralda is best for this. She can dive into enemies and can kill the backline easily. But don’t engage in a 1 v 5 situation in the late game, as the enemy marksman can easily melt her down. Generally, Esmeralda is good against heroes that deal damage over time, so she can regenerate more shield while getting attacked. It’s also almost impossible to kill Esmeralda with a single combo. Her weaknesses are anti-heal, burst damage, and CC. If she’s hit with a CC skill, she can’t do much to save himself.

Esmeralda with other heroes

In this section of the guide, we will discuss the heroes that Esmeralda can counter and heroes that can counter Esmeralda in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. To know more about hero counters in Mobile Legends, do read our Ultimate Hero Counters Guide.

Final Thoughts

Esmeralda is an overpowered hero; once she builds her items, the enemy team can not kill her in the whole game. With the help of her shield and skills, she can easily escape from any situation, a lesser-known game character option, which is way different from what is now trending in popular esports games. But always remember one thing: her shield is generated from her basic skill combos, so once the enemy stuns you or silences you, then you can no longer press your skills, and you will die eventually. So let your tank take care of enemy CC, and then you jump on enemy squishy heroes/carry to finish them.
