8 Reasons Why I Still Use DALL-E for AI Image Generation

The middle way. Stable diffusion. Adobe Firefly. The list goes on. And yet, despite all the options available, I still use DALL-E to generate AI images. Why? Read on to find out why I prefer this AI image generator.

1 DALL-E is easy to use

If I’m going to adopt any new technology, it has to be easy to use or learn. One of the biggest reasons I continue to use DALL-E for generating AI images is that creating images is incredibly straightforward.

Once you’ve logged into ChatGPT, all you have to do is enter a prompt for the type of image you want. DALL-E then goes to work and generates the image in a few minutes at most. After receiving the image, you can decide if you want to make further adjustments.

The biggest challenge in generating AI images in DALL-E will be getting your prompts right. Being vague will give you suboptimal results, so for this reason I recommend trying the best DALL-E editing challenges.

2 DALL-E has improved significantly since the early days

DALL-E is not perfect and I still run into issues like unreadable text on my images. However, having used the tool since its first release, I can confidently say that it is now much better than before.

Now when I enter challenges in DALL-E it normally gets them right within a few tries at most. I also experienced fewer defects than previously seen, and significantly less than many other AI image generators.

As the software becomes more adept at analyzing text and can use more data, I’m sure DALL-E will continue to improve in the long run. I doubt I’ll ever use this for real life images, and I also make it clear that my mobile photos were not AI-generated.

3 Access to ChatGPT at the same time

I know this only counts if you also use ChatGPT, but I like to use as few apps as possible. Having more than one solution available within the same software makes my life a lot easier because it prevents me from having to switch between applications. Thanks to this, I can concentrate better throughout the day.

When I use DALL-E, I don’t even need to go to a new part of the app to access ChatGPT. At most, I have to create a new chat and enter my new question there. While I wish ChatGPT had a few UI improvements, it’s also nice to be able to access DALL-E prompts and ChatGPT conversations in the same sidebar.

When I first started using DALL-E, one of my biggest complaints was that it didn’t have native editing tools. Having to edit an entire image when I only wanted to change one thing was frustrating and to be honest, I ended up using the app a lot less as a result.

But now DALL-E has this feature. Although the app’s built-in editing tools still need work, they’re a good starting point. You can select a specific area in the image to edit and adjust the size of the brush based on the size of the parts you want to edit.

Since ChatGPT also has a canvas feature, I would probably use DALL-E even more if it introduced a similar image editing tool.

5 You can access DALL-E from anywhere

One of my biggest frustrations with some AI image generators is that you can only access them from the browser. However, this is not the case with DALL-E. Granted, I mainly generate the AI ​​image in my browser, but sometimes I use the ChatGPT smartphone app instead.

If you have a tablet, you can also use DALL-E to generate AI images. This level of flexibility gives you the ability to make faster adjustments on the go. Plus, you can make something quickly if you have a new idea.

6 DALL-E is good at creating different images

I have used DALL-E for photorealistic images and illustrations, and have also tried it for portraits, landscapes and much more. While it’s certainly weak in some areas, I think the DALL-E does a good job of producing decent images.

If I need something different and I’ve tried multiple challenges, only then will I consider using an alternative AI image generator. But mostly I didn’t feel the need to do it.

You can always try different AI image generators if you’re still on edge. Midjourney, DALL-E and Stable Diffusion are considered top contenders.

7 You can vote if you like the DALL-E picture or not

Many other generative AI tools have this feature as well, but I like how you can quickly give DALL-E feedback. If you like the picture, you can leave a thumbs up. And if you’re not happy with the result, giving it a thumbs down tells GPT that it needs to be improved for future challenges.

8 I know how to use DALL-E to its maximum potential

While I totally agree that some AI image generators are better than others, your knowledge will limit how well you use them. If you’re not sure which prompts work, how the tool responds to different feedback, and what its strengths and weaknesses are, you’ll struggle to achieve the most optimal results.

Since I’ve been using DALL-E for a long time now, I know how to get the most out of it. I understand which challenges work and where their weak points are. It also allows me to decide if I need to use a different generator for my particular task.

Another advantage of knowing how to use DALL-E is that I can incorporate other tools later if needed. For example, I might need to resize something in Canva because DALL-E has problems in this regard.

DALL-E is one of many AI image generators, but I still prefer it despite the competition. It’s easy to use, but more importantly, I know how to get the most out of the software. And with the editing tools now in the picture, I’m sure DALL-E will continue to improve.
